Lot's more good stuff occurs in the Bay Area than we hear about, and the OPEN folks just had a good conference. You can hear more about them on their site:
OPEN is an inclusive organization, focused primarily on the promotion
of entrepreneurship and business leadership. OPEN Silicon Valley
community is several thousand-strong, and includes corporate
professionals, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and banking
professionals, social leaders, academics and students.
They held their annual conference at the Computer History Museum this year attracting 600+ attendees. This years theme captured the mood of optimism as our economy gradually bounds back and allowed attendees a chance to explore avenues to capitalize on this momentum.
Highlights from the morning sessions included panelists on the Social Entrepreneurs talk featuring Tabreez Verjee, Board Member from Kiva and Leila janah CEO of SamaSource who discussed the new generation of innovative thinkers, where global social impact is a primary driver and the promise of IPOs a distant second on the business agenda.
Believe in the goodness of others and remember that anger and depression can be countered by love and hope.
