Hey, GovLoop.com is a really good social network for government. They've just launched the AwesomeGov charity fund as a way to give back and highlight, honor, and support public service.
The deal is that from now until December 15th, GovLoop donates $1 for every new member. Members submit and vote on the charity of their choice - winner takes all.
The current leader is the NIH Children's Inn which provides a "place like home" for sick children and their families. In second place is Code for America which focuses on connecting web 2.0 talent with local governments that need it.
This $1 concept is really catching fast.Still it is an innovative idea for a good cause.
