Let's support Wildland Firefighters
Posted on September 5th, 2009 by Craig Newmark
Hey, wildland firefighters have been risking their lives right now, saving people and their stuff throughout our state. Two firefighters died this week in southern California during the Station Fire when their vehicle turned over in steep terrain.
When these guys are injured or killed, they are often a long way away from friends and family. The wildland firefighters foundation helps out by covering travel expenses for loved ones to join their fallen family members.
A Northern California wildland firefighter has done a tribute to wildland firefighters called "Into the Fire". Check it out at blackirish.com.
Proceeds from the sale of the "Into the Fire" cd go to the Wildland Firefighters Foundation.

Those guys are amazing.
For some historical perspective I really recommend "Young Men and Fire"–a book about the deadly Mann Gulch fire of 1949 [http://blip.fm/~d13re
