My squirrels evolve. I'm happy that it can't 1) unhook the feeder and drop it to the ground, and hopefully 2) it can't open the cage now, and drop the suet to the ground.

Wow! The squirrel might be more interesting than the birds!
I put one of these feeders out and both the squirrels and the birds just ignored it. Had to go back to the regular feeders and scattering seed on the ground.
Of course, this is in South Carolina, where most of our state funds don't go to education (49th out of 50) but to litigation.
Maybe we need some kind of squirrel-stimulus education funding.
You found a scary smart squirrel. I wouldn't count on either of those assumptions — you'll come back and find he's assembled a ladder.
