Online government customer service in the UK: FixMyStreet.com
Fix My Street is a British effort like 311 as in NYC and San Francisco. The deal is that you see a problem, maybe a pothole, then you can report it to local government and they fix it.
Even better, they have an iPhone application, with more smartphones to follow. You see a problem, take a photo with your phone, and upload the report immediately.

I feel this is a really big deal, useful, and a model for more.
Nice but how about my town Riverside, CA, a city of 300,000 with rapid growth due to its proximity to Orange County, LA, San Diego, that IS FORCING OUR GREYHOUND BUS SERVICE OUT OF RIVERSIDE and is paying about $625,000 to force Greyhound out, despite the fact it serves 80,000 passenger trips a year.
We have City Council that want to be big city folks, important, and have theaters and arts and culture, and they think the way to get closer to that ideal is to get rid of Greyhound and take all the small businesses downtown by eminent domain.
It will be tough on tens of thousands of people and our city Council said they can catch the bus 10 miles away if they need to visit someone.
