Eric might be looking for an "evil meter." He mentions that if an engineer states, in a meeting, that some act might be evil, discussion stops, following by consideration for the evilness of the subject. (UPDATE: that's not an exact quote, ask him or Ken Auletta for more, or maybe the video if published. I do trust the Google guys, they're serious about "don't be evil.")
